A resilient company knows its energy exposure

India’s changing LPG import pattern shows why supply diversification matters to every energy-dependent organisation.

The United States now supplies about 67 per cent of India’s LPG imports. A company should map routes, storage, substitute inputs and price sensitivity before an external shock makes those questions urgent.

For senior leaders, the practical response is to identify the exposure, assign an owner and publish the evidence that will be used to review the decision. A headline can signal a risk, but it cannot replace operating information.

The company should test more than one scenario, protect the people affected by the decision and set a date for reassessment. That turns a news development into a management discipline rather than a short-lived reaction.

Leadership is increasingly judged by the quality of the process: whether assumptions are visible, uncertainty is acknowledged and corrective action is possible when facts change.
