Trust is an operational asset, not only a communications theme

Oil companies’ response to E20 fuel concerns illustrates how trust is built through verifiable operating controls. The companies said they tested the supply chain for moisture and chloride and found samples within prescribed limits.

The reported system includes checks at refineries, distilleries, depots, terminals and petrol pumps, more than 100 additional samples and independent laboratories. Whether the claim is accepted will depend on the transparency of the method and the availability of complaint channels.

Customers increasingly expect companies to show their work. A statement without evidence is weak; a documented process with measurable results can protect a brand even when a concern emerges.

Executives should treat quality records, incident response and clear disclosure as part of the product itself.
